Which of these sentences sounds better?

The first one definately. The best english teacher i ever had always said "Don't drive to New Orleans to get to Cecila" but you wouldn't know what i was talking about unless you lived in cajun country like me lol. In other words don't do more than what you have to; it will sound more natural and not as pompous imho.
